Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to corporate, startup, public sector, and individual clients on Washington state and federal law issues.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as commercial leases, SaaS agreements, NDAs, employment agreements, and settlement documents.
- Represent clients in civil or criminal proceedings, including motion practice, discovery, mediation, arbitration, and trial advocacy in state and federal courts.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, briefs, opinion letters, and regulatory filings for agencies and courts.
- Manage case strategy, timelines, and budgets while coordinating with internal stakeholders, co-counsel, and external service providers.
- Advise on regulatory compliance, including data privacy, consumer protection, employment law, and industry-specific rules for healthcare, fintech, and tech companies.
- Develop and maintain client relationships through regular communication, risk assessments, and proactive legal training or policy updates.
Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school, with strong academic performance preferred.
- Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association, or eligibility for admission by motion or limited license in-house counsel registration.
- 1–3 years of experience for entry-level associate roles, or 4–8 years for mid-level and senior positions, in relevant practice areas such as litigation, corporate, employment, real estate, or IP.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing contracts, pleadings, or regulatory documents with high attention to detail.
- Strong legal research and writing skills using modern research platforms and citation standards.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Authorization to work in the United States and, where applicable, ability to appear in Washington state and federal courts.
Preferred Skills
- Background in technology, SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or life sciences relevant to the Seattle market.
- Experience with complex commercial litigation, class actions, mergers and acquisitions, venture financings, or cross-border transactions.
- Familiarity with privacy and data security frameworks, including HIPAA, GLBA, and state consumer privacy laws.
- Comfort with legal technology tools for e-discovery, contract lifecycle management, document automation, and matter management.
- Ability to collaborate across distributed or hybrid teams and work effectively with engineers, product managers, HR, and business leaders.
