Job Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to business operations, products, and services in areas such as compliance, privacy, or financial regulation.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, policies, and internal procedures to manage legal and operational risk for the organization.

- Develop and maintain documentation, playbooks, and templates that standardize legal and compliance processes and improve legal operations efficiency.
- Track emerging legislation, enforcement trends, and case law, advising the business on potential impacts and recommending risk-mitigation strategies.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in law, political science, business, public policy, or a related field; a JD or LLB is highly preferred for many roles but not always mandatory.
- Active bar admission or eligibility in at least one jurisdiction is required for some positions that involve giving legal advice, while others accept non-barred professionals with strong regulatory knowledge.
- 1–5+ years of experience in a legal, compliance, contracts, regulatory, or policy-focused role within a law firm, corporate legal department, government agency, or NGO.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and contract language and communicate implications clearly to non-lawyers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting policies, procedures, reports, or contract clauses with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with core legal domains such as corporate governance, data protection, employment, financial regulation, or healthcare regulation, depending on the role.
- Proficiency with common office software and, ideally, exposure to legal research platforms or contract management tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in a specialized industry such as fintech, healthcare, life sciences, SaaS, or highly regulated financial services.
- Knowledge of cross-border regulatory regimes, international data protection laws, sanctions, export controls, or global corporate compliance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with legal technology, including contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, e-billing tools, e-discovery platforms, or AI-assisted document review.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder groups, prioritize workload, and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Background in policy advocacy, government relations, or public affairs for candidates targeting policy- or regulatory-focused roles.
