Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on Washington state and federal law across corporate, commercial, employment, real estate, and/or litigation matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including NDAs, commercial agreements, vendor and customer contracts, and licensing arrangements.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings, including motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Conduct thorough legal research, prepare memoranda, and stay current on developments in relevant practice areas and local Seattle regulations.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, in-house teams, and outside counsel to structure deals, resolve disputes, and mitigate legal risk.
- Manage matter timelines, budgets, and workflows while maintaining high standards of client service and ethical compliance.
- Develop and maintain client relationships, contribute to business development, and support firm or department initiatives in the Seattle market.
Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school or recognized foreign equivalent with U.S. LLM, as applicable.
- Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) or eligibility for prompt admission/limited license in Washington.
- 1–5+ years of relevant post-qualification experience in a law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department, depending on role level.
- Strong knowledge of at least one core practice area such as corporate transactions, commercial litigation, employment, real estate, technology, or regulatory compliance.
- Proven legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including experience with legal research platforms and drafting complex documents.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-lawyers clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience advising technology, SaaS, e-commerce, cloud, or gaming companies common in the Seattle and broader Pacific Northwest market.
- Background in cross-border transactions, data privacy, cybersecurity, or intellectual property relevant to multinational and tech-focused clients.
- Familiarity with legal technology tools such as e-discovery platforms, contract lifecycle management software, and document automation systems.
- Track record of client development, practice building, or participation in networking, bar associations, and community initiatives in the Seattle area.
- Comfort working in hybrid or remote teams, collaborating across offices, and supporting stakeholders in different time zones.
