Job Responsibilities

Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on litigation, regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters under California and federal law.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, corporate governance documents, and other legal instruments.
Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials before San Diego County courts, California state courts, and relevant administrative agencies.
Conduct legal research, analyze statutes, regulations, and case law, and prepare memoranda, opinions, and risk assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
Manage case files and deal pipelines, including discovery, evidence collection, witness preparation, and coordination with outside counsel or experts.
Collaborate with internal business teams, executives, and cross-functional stakeholders to structure transactions, resolve disputes, and implement compliance programs.
Develop and maintain client relationships, participate in business development activities, and stay current with developments in relevant practice areas.

Minimum Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active license to practice law in California, or eligibility and willingness to become admitted within a defined timeframe.
1–3+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, public agency, or judicial clerkship, depending on seniority of the role.
Strong knowledge of at least one core practice area such as civil litigation, criminal law, corporate and securities, employment, real estate, or regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated proficiency in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy, with examples of drafted pleadings, contracts, or advisory memoranda.
Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
High ethical standards, sound professional judgment, and strong communication skills when interacting with clients, courts, and counterparties.

Preferred Skills

Experience in specialized practice areas relevant to the San Diego market, such as healthcare, life sciences, military and veterans law, cross-border Mexico–U.S. matters, or technology and SaaS.
Background in managing complex litigation, class actions, M&A transactions, real estate development projects, or regulatory investigations.
