Job Responsibilities

Advise corporate, institutional, and individual clients on applicable federal, Missouri, and Kansas law across designated practice areas.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
Represent clients in state and federal court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and negotiations.
Conduct legal research, prepare memoranda, and analyze case law, statutes, regulations, and agency guidance relevant to client matters.
Manage case or transaction workflows, including discovery, due diligence, deadlines, and communication with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.
Collaborate with partners, in-house stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to develop legal strategies aligned with business and personal objectives.
Develop and maintain client relationships, participate in business development activities, and contribute to practice group initiatives in the Kansas City market.

Minimum Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active license in good standing with the Missouri Bar and/or Kansas Bar, or eligibility to obtain admission on a timely basis.
1–3 years of relevant legal experience for junior and associate-level roles; more extensive experience for senior counsel or partner-track positions.
Strong legal research and writing skills, including experience with major legal research platforms and drafting complex legal documents.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a legal team.
Excellent communication, advocacy, and client-facing skills, with professionalism in dealing with courts, agencies, and counterparties.
Familiarity with core practice area procedures, such as civil litigation rules, transactional closing processes, or criminal procedure, depending on the role.
