Job Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, NDAs, supplier agreements, and customer agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise management and internal stakeholders on corporate governance, company secretarial matters, and board processes.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risks related to data protection, employment, marketing, competition, and industry-specific regulations.
- Develop, implement, and update internal policies, compliance programs, and employee training on key legal topics.
- Manage disputes, pre-litigation matters, and relationships with external counsel, including budgeting and strategy oversight.
- Support strategic projects such as M&A, joint ventures, financings, and product launches by providing end-to-end legal guidance.
- Collaborate with finance, HR, sales, and product teams to align legal advice with commercial objectives and risk appetite.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Admission to practice and good standing with at least one relevant bar or law society in the jurisdiction of employment.
- 2+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal team, ideally with exposure to corporate, commercial, or compliance work.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and advising on contract risk allocation.
- Strong understanding of core areas such as corporate law, employment law, data protection/privacy, and regulatory compliance in the applicable market.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide concise, business-oriented advice to non-lawyers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and work independently with limited supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working as in-house counsel within a specific industry such as technology, SaaS, fintech, life sciences, or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with cross-border transactions, international contracting, and multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks.
- Comfort with legal operations tools, contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, e-billing systems, and document management software.
- Ability to design and deliver compliance training, policy frameworks, and legal playbooks for business stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior leaders while maintaining professional independence.
