Job Responsibilities

Advise hospitals, health systems, clinics, and insurers on federal and state healthcare regulatory compliance, including HIPAA, HITECH, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and False Claims Act risk.
Draft, review, and negotiate healthcare contracts such as physician employment agreements, management services agreements, clinical trial agreements, business associate agreements, and payor contracts.
Support healthcare M&A, private equity investments, joint ventures, and restructurings by conducting regulatory due diligence and preparing transaction documents.
Counsel on Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payor reimbursement, including coverage, coding, billing practices, overpayment issues, and value-based care arrangements.
Assist clients with responses to government investigations, audits, and enforcement actions by agencies such as OIG, DOJ, CMS, and state Medicaid fraud units.
Advise on state law issues including corporate practice of medicine, telehealth and telemedicine rules, licensure, scope of practice, and certificate-of-need requirements.
Provide training, policies, and compliance program guidance for healthcare organizations, including privacy, security, and fraud and abuse prevention.

Minimum Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar; additional admissions may be required for specific jurisdictions.
1–3 years of experience for junior or associate healthcare lawyer roles; 5+ years of experience for senior counsel or partner-track positions.
Foundational knowledge of key healthcare regulatory frameworks, including HIPAA/HITECH, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and CMS regulations.
Experience researching and applying federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, and agency guidance to real-world client scenarios.
Strong legal drafting and contract negotiation skills, particularly in healthcare services and commercial agreements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory issues to non-lawyer stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

Experience advising hospitals, physician groups, health systems, payors, or life sciences and digital health companies on complex regulatory matters.
Familiarity with telehealth, remote patient monitoring, digital health platforms, and data sharing arrangements, including interoperability and information blocking rules.
Background in healthcare M&A, private equity investments, joint ventures, or other transactional healthcare work, including regulatory due diligence.
Experience interacting with government agencies (e.g., OIG, CMS, state health departments) and managing audits, subpoenas, or voluntary disclosures.
Comfort with legal research tools and compliance technologies used in healthcare regulation, billing, and audit analytics.
