Job Responsibilities

Advise K–12 school districts, charter schools, and higher education institutions on federal and state education laws, regulations, and board policies.

Minimum Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
1–3+ years of experience in education law, civil rights, labor and employment, or related regulatory practice (more for senior roles).
Solid knowledge of key education statutes and regulations, including FERPA, Title IX, IDEA, ADA, and relevant state education codes.
Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, with experience drafting policies, position statements, and briefing materials.
Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, students, and public officials, often in high-sensitivity matters.
Demonstrated commitment to issues involving equity, student rights, and access to education.

Preferred Skills

Experience handling Title IX investigations, hearings, and appeals for colleges or universities.
Background in special education law, including IEP meetings, due process hearings, and mediation.
