Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal analysis and advice on Colorado and federal law across litigation, corporate, real estate, employment, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, pleadings, discovery responses, settlement agreements, and corporate governance documents.
- Appear in Colorado state and federal courts, administrative hearings, mediations, and arbitrations to advocate for clients.
- Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, local ordinances, and regulatory guidance relevant to Denver-based clients and matters.
- Manage case and deal workflows, including matter budgeting, timelines, and coordination with paralegals, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders.
- Support business development by attending client meetings, industry events, and bar association activities within the Denver legal community.
- Ensure ethical compliance, accurate timekeeping, and adherence to firm or in-house legal department policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active license in good standing with the Colorado Bar, or eligibility for prompt admission or reciprocity as required by the employer.
- 1–8+ years of relevant legal experience in litigation, corporate, real estate, regulatory, or a closely related practice area, depending on role level.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including experience using major legal research platforms.
- Demonstrated experience drafting legal documents such as motions, briefs, contracts, corporate resolutions, or lease agreements.
- Ability to manage multiple Denver and regional matters simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
- Professional integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to client service and confidentiality.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Colorado-specific practice areas such as energy and natural resources, oil and gas, water rights, land use, or cannabis regulation.
- Background representing startups, SaaS and tech companies, or growth-stage businesses common in the Denver and Front Range ecosystem.
- Prior work on complex commercial litigation, M&A transactions, real estate development, or public finance projects in Colorado.
- Familiarity with local government processes, zoning and permitting, or state agency practice before Colorado regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency with modern legal technology, e-discovery platforms, document management systems, and matter management tools.
