Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to clients in assigned practice areas, including civil litigation, corporate transactions, real estate, employment, family law, criminal defense, and/or regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, pleadings, discovery responses, settlement agreements, corporate governance documents, and other legal instruments under tight deadlines.
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and negotiations with opposing counsel, regulators, and counterparties.
- Conduct legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations, case law, and local rules applicable under Arizona and federal law, and prepare clear memoranda or briefs.
- Manage case and deal workflows, including docketing deadlines, organizing files, supervising support staff where applicable, and communicating regularly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with partners, senior counsel, paralegals, and business teams to develop litigation strategies, deal structures, and risk-mitigation plans tailored to client objectives.
- Support business development and client relationship efforts, including client pitches, legal updates, CLE presentations, and community networking in the Phoenix legal market.
Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona, or clear eligibility to obtain Arizona admission (on motion, reciprocity, or within a defined timeframe).
- 1–5+ years of experience practicing law in a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency, or judicial clerkship; some roles may consider strong entry-level candidates.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in at least one relevant practice area, such as civil litigation, corporate/transactional work, real estate, employment, family law, criminal defense, immigration, or regulatory compliance.
- Proven legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- High ethical standards, sound professional judgment, and commitment to client service consistent with the Arizona Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Proficiency with standard office and legal technology tools, including word processing, legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, Fastcase), and basic case or matter management software.
Preferred Skills
- Experience handling Arizona Superior Court, Maricopa County, and U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona matters, including familiarity with local rules and electronic filing systems.
- Background representing clients in key Phoenix industries such as real estate development, healthcare, construction, financial services, manufacturing, or technology/SaaS.
- Spanish language skills or other multilingual capabilities to serve diverse client populations in the Phoenix and broader Arizona market.
- Familiarity with e-discovery tools, document automation platforms, and AI-assisted legal research or drafting workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships, contribute to business development initiatives, and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
