Job Responsibilities
- Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical policies, procedures, and internal controls for business teams.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, NDAs, vendor agreements, and service terms in coordination with in-house counsel.
- Design, implement, and optimize legal operations processes, matter management systems, and contract lifecycle workflows.
- Conduct regulatory research and risk assessments in areas such as data privacy, employment, financial services, or industry-specific compliance.
- Prepare clear reports, dashboards, and presentations for executives, compliance committees, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support audits, regulatory examinations, and internal investigations by gathering documentation and coordinating responses.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to ensure new initiatives meet legal, regulatory, and policy standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree; international candidates may hold an LLB or LLM.
- 1–3+ years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency, or compliance function (more for senior roles).
- Strong understanding of contracts, regulatory frameworks, corporate governance, or risk management principles relevant to the employer’s industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and basic data analysis in Excel or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction; some roles may prefer or require bar admission, even if the role itself is non-attorney.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with legal tech platforms, contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools, e-billing systems, or compliance management software.
- Background in a regulated industry such as financial services, healthcare, life sciences, data privacy, or SaaS/fintech.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, or PMP/Prince2) and process improvement in legal or compliance settings.
